Consultation about career, portfolio, training and doubts for designers

For students

For you, consultations for drinking here and there. At this age there is enormous potential, which is often broken by the cost of consultations, training and the ego of professionals. Something completely free loses a lot of value. Therefore, there is still a minimum threshold. Who will find it useful:

What you will get (really everything you want to ask and for which I can find an answer, for example):

For hardworking kittens

For you, the consultation will cost 5000₽. For whom it will be useful:

What you will get (in fact, everything you want to ask and for which I can find the answer, for example):

To sign up, write to me in private messages

And to make your choice, you can read: what questions did other guys come to me with, and what do they think after our meeting?

Masha K. Which job search strategy should I choose given my set of skills, wishes and portfolio?

For me, your assessment and this conversation in general was very therapeutic. You very accurately picked up the main problems of the projects from the portfolio, it was as if I immediately checked with reality, and the real state of affairs became clear.
What’s very nice is that we ended on a positive note and were directly motivated by some of your comments. We just talked about how design should relate to real things, and now it’s time to glue it together - I’m reworking the bill for major repairs that pissed me off this morning.

Zhenya K. What am I doing wrong? What should I do? How to find a good job?

She opened my eyes, allowed me to look at myself through someone else’s eyes and gave me the opportunity to gain such experience that I decided to have a consultation. Coolly highlighted the moments that for some reason I didn’t pay attention to, “Wow, how could I put this in my portfolio, there’s a joint on the joint?” I remember from your resume that you gave a base that I know, but don’t use, and if a person whom you trust in some sense says that this is still important, then I understand that it won’t work and really needs to be redone. Yes, there were also pleasant moments where you said that I have some specific advantages, this motivates me. So, at the moment, it’s a cool experience to turn to an expert, look at yourself from a different perspective, clean up your resume and portfolio

Artyom R. I would like a format where you look and comment on my portfolio for any reason

I was waiting for the “senior looks and reasons” format, and that’s what I got. I would like to hear your opinion. It was clear how you tried to give maximum benefit (by the way, it worked).
You said some useful things, but I want to highlight the two coolest for me:
  • Treat your portfolio like a showcase or a chronicle (I chose a chronicle for myself)
  • Describe the work on the spot, and not just drive traffic.
In short, I realized that it was not in vain that I contacted you already at ~3 minutes.

Diana F. How to put together a portfolio that will reflect me and understand my strengths?

The consultation really helped me to find out my strengths and what I need to improve/treat/systematize.
I received confirmation of my thoughts from an authoritative person, a kind of “kick”
I won’t hide it (I discovered this later) our consultation came at a time of my stagnation, when you know where you are sagging, but you don’t know what exactly to do, and it seems like there are a lot of cases, a lot of experience, but you just feel like a nobody
I didn’t get the full amount of what I expected, because my expectations were: “Wow, Nikita is cool!” I’ll call her and hear that I’m cool too, where I need to work a little to become even better,” in general, I wanted her to pat her on the head, reassure her, acknowledge her
But in fact I made a mistake: I did not form a specific request, as a result of which I did not prepare well enough and received a vague result
I still found points of growth, I know what I need to work on, I’m now working closely on my portfolio and packaging myself as a specialist, so I think that it will happen soon. if there is such an opportunity, I will return to you with a specific vision of my work/social networks in order to receive feedback about me as a potential employee/performer on behalf of the client and on behalf of the professional
Thank you very much, probably the thought above is the main thing I had to take away) Finally, sit down and make the portfolio the way I want it to be, work on its quality and use your video (I saw that you just posted it, we talked about it at the consultation)

Veronica A. I want to join bigtech! What am I missing?

After the meeting, things were going well, I had strength and an understanding of what to do next, it really cheered me up.
There’s just such a thing that reviews from colleagues and friends of designers are not likely to get an honest answer. Everyone says nice things, you’re cool, but it’s cool that an unbiased professional can say what he thinks without fear of offending.
This experience really suited me, I was especially glad for the free price list, because it can be very difficult to sign up for such things because of the high cost.
Of some points that could be improved, I can only say one, and it’s not critical. Honesty and sincerity of reactions are very necessary and important to me, but the first second when I heard “well, this is fucked up,” I was a little scared. Then I realized that you weren’t going to scold me, but this was just some kind of expression of emotions.
It was also very cool that you share knowledge about how the market works now. It’s great to hear from people immersed in the industry, you want to believe it and it helps you get your bearings

Fields. I don’t understand where to go, look at the portfolio and tgk, tell me what you think

The experience was pleasant, the comments were to the point. I have not yet fully reflected on everything that was said. But some words stuck in my mind, I walk around and think about them now)
The good thing is that you are involved. It feels like the person doesn’t care, and he really wants to help. It was nice to see some examples of good things, maybe it would be worth adding more. Conventionally, “here are a couple of dudes with different approaches to the portfolio, you can do what you think is right” to capture the idea that a portfolio does not have to be a cliché. Although, on the other hand, it’s not your responsibility to strengthen something in a person’s mind, so it’s like an optional story)
Now, in everything I do, I ask the question: is this my personal zeal or was it inspired by someone from the outside?

Arthur. I'm 18 and don't understand how to enter the labor market

It was a very useful consultation, point by point
1) Today I will have my second lesson in public speaking, I will continue to improve my speaking skills
2) I started reading the book “I want everyone to like it.” I haven’t gotten to the body of the book yet to put the advice into practice, but it’s already interesting
3) Now I look at my portfolio and resume differently, after the exams I’ll start doing them more intensively and applying for vacancies (I can write if I get anywhere)
This consultation is simply the best, even if some small part of the advice is banal and could have already been heard in the media, then after they were sent individually to me their value changed. But of course there’s more to it than banal and personal advice; I wouldn’t have known that anywhere else.
